If you’re considering losing some weight and cutting back on carbs, spiralizing is a great way to include pasta like dishes without the calories. A spiralizer will slice your vegetables into ribbons, that can then be eaten raw or mildly cooked as a pasta substitute.

Once you purchase your spiralizer you will be able to create noodles by simply attaching raw vegetables to the teeth of the device and turning the handle. The device will let you create noodles in a variety of thicknesses. Vegetables that have a firm texture are best for spirazing, but you could also use cucumbers squash or pumpkin, or firm fruits such as apples and pears.

Courgettes – By attaching the thin noodle attachment to the spiralizer, you will be able to create spaghetti like twirls. To cook your twirls, just place it in boiling water for 20 seconds and top it up with your favourite pasta sauce.

Carrots – Raw carrots spiralized are a great way to add texture and crunch to your salads or stir-fry. Apart from being easy and healthy, the spirals will be a pretty addition to your dish.

Sweet potatoes – By using the thicker blade, you can make your very own curly sweet potato fries. To fry them, just toss them in hot oil for a few seconds.

Apples – For a very fancy coleslaw, spiral your apples to add texture and crunch. Just remember to toss them in a bit of lemon juice or vinegar to prevent browning.
