Trying to lose a few pounds, but the scale is just not budging? When it comes to nutrition, it’s important to separate fact from fiction. If you’re working out at the gym and eating healthy, you should be losing weight. If not, your so called “healthy diet” could be to blame. Here are some myths debunked.

Egg yolks are not allowed on a diet – On a diet it’s vital to get all nutrients needed for you to stay energized throughout the day. If you omit the yolks and just eat the whites, you’re losing out on vitamins A, B, D and K, that are in an egg yolk. Plus egg yolks have 20 times the calcium and 30 times the iron as the whites.

You have to count calories – Counting calories is difficult and almost always not accurate. You might be consuming too little or too much calories. Instead eat seasonal vegetables, moderate amount of carbs and lean proteins. This will leave you satisfied and give you the energy you will need for your workouts.

Fat is a No No! – Fat is needed for satiety. Have you noticed that when you consume a good steak, you feel satisfied. This is because, fat is essential in a balanced diet. Fat is also great for transporting fat-soluble vitamins like A, D and K, which help in healthy growth. Make sure you get the right fat, by including coconut, coconut oil, nut butters, nut oils, fish oils and avocado, in your diet.
